We'll begin with the latest on President Trump's new steep tariff on India. It's now at 50%. When it affected midnight, I want to go to our chief White House correspondent Mary Bruce with the

impact. Good morning, Mary. Good morning, George.

Well, President Trump has doubled the tax on goods imported from India from 25 to 50% in an effort to punish the country for buying Russian oil.

This new 50% tariff on nearly all goods imported from India is among the highest imposed by the Trump administration and on a country

with deep ties to the U.S. It means that Americans could pay more for everything from clothing

and footwear to jewelry and furniture. Now so far pharmaceuticals and electronics are exempt, but

there is no question. This is going to have a huge impact on American importers, many of

whom have increasingly turned to India to lessen their dependence on China.

But the president is adamant that this is going to make it harder for Russia to get rich and fund its war in Ukraine.

But India says it is, quote, unfair, unjustified and unreasonable, George.

And, Mary, the president's attempt to fire member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, Lisa Cook, heading to the courts.

Yeah, George, the president is once again testing the limits of his presidential power,

attempting to fire a sitting member of the Fed's board of governors,
