Spotify. in the world of tech. Spotify has filed an antitrust complaint against Apple with the European Commission

claiming App Store Rules limit, and stifle competition.

Central to the complaint is Apple's vaunted 30% rake for apps in the App Store.

Essentially, Spotify complains that because of that rev share, it can't compete on price with

something like Apple's Apple Music Service.

In a blog post, Spotify CEO Danielke wrote, quote,

In recent years, Apple has introduced rules

to the App Store that purposely limit choice

and stifle innovation at the expense of the user experience,

essentially acting as both a player and a referee to deliberately

disadvantage other app developers.

After trying unsuccessfully to resolve the issues directly with Apple, we're now requesting that the EC take action to ensure fair competition.
