Summary

Today's episode takes us into the archives 20 years ago to the day. Less than a week after the United States military invaded Iraq, Middle East Report editor Chris Toensing spoke with Chuck about the narrative being spun at the time to frame the invasion as a preemptive defensive measure to remove an imminent threat to the United States. Little did Chris and Chuck know at the time just how much water the media would carry for the Bush administration and the imperialists at the Project for the New American Century. 1:39.9	necessary and completely unavoidable when we knew
1:44.0	now know it was not only unnecessary but completely avoidable.
1:49.0	She and most Iraqis saw Saddam's regime as that of a madman, but to Iraqis he was our madman
1:56.3	when they understood as their own as the phrase goes better the devil you know than the
2:01.6	devil you don't. She witnessed the collapse of the
2:04.5	dictatorship in its wake the massive looting including that of national treasures
2:09.0	which she watched from the roof of her home in Mosul.
