It's been 20 years since 7-year-old Danielle Van Dam was abducted from her home in San Diego and murdered.

It's a case that continues to impact people to this day.

This struck a nerve with anybody who had a child.

If you were in San Diego when Danielle Van Dan was taken from her home,

you remember this story.

It's something you'll never forget.

Two police detectives in Bridgeport, Connecticut,

have been put on leave for their handling of two separate death investigations in December.

It is an unaccepted failure if policies were not followed.

To the families, friends, and all who care about human decency,

that that should be shown in these situations, in this case by members of the police department.

I'm very sorry.

Two women were found dead in Bridgeport, Connecticut on December 12th.

Now, almost two months later, the detectives assigned to those cases have been put on leave and are under investigation.

Let's start there. What happened in that case?

That's right, Reed. We talked to Gabby Molina at Fox 61 in Connecticut, and she told us how Lauren Smith Fields had been found back in December on December 12th, found dead in her apartment, according to police. She had spent the night with a man she met on Bumble. And that man called 911 that night. And he wasn't considered a person of interest or a suspect.
