Guys, your media is the foundation of your grow.

0:08.8

And if you don't pick one that goes with your grow style, you can ruin the whole harvest.

0:13.5

But if you start with the right media, everything should be easier from there.

0:17.0

The key is your roots need to breathe and you don't want to suffocate them.

0:37.5

And some soils, some media is make it easier for the plant to breathe than others and some make it a lot harder. They're all overwatering is a number one mistake. So that is very clutch there. We're going to go through the five more's popular, give you the pros and cons of each one, and then tell you our picks for the best growing media at the end.

First, I'll take Pete here. Pete's the most common growing media. It's the one I start off with. It's highly accessible, whether it's at your local garden center or sometimes even

at the hardware store. What peat is, partially decomposed organic matter, drive mostly from plant

material. And also, one downfall I've been learning as a grower, it's not as pH stable over

1:38.2

time as some other media, such as cocoa. Pete is acidic and lime is added to neutralize some of

1:43.0

that acidity and raise pH.

1:45.0

And one other, not to be too negative here, but heat can become hydrophobic.

1:48.7

As a grower, you miss the watering, you let your grow get kind of dry.

1:52.7

You try to water in on that, and it really doesn't want to take the water.
