Summary

This week Erin Ryan and Alyssa Mastromonaco discuss the three guilty verdicts in the trial of Derek Chauvin, the Green New Deal and DC statehood. Plus Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action, joins to discuss the uptick in gun violence headlines, the inner corruptions of the NRA and how to stay engaged with gun reform activism. Then, Megan Gailey and Tien Tran join to talk about the care economy as an essential part of American infrastructure, and what happens to a whole ass economy when care is no longer available. Finally we all relax with some casual nobility on nobility crime...and other recommendations in a much needed Sanity Corner.

So, Alyssa, I've been thinking about the UK a lot just because they're in the news for

various reasons. Is there anything in the UK that you're kind of jealous of?

0:22.8

Is there anything in the UK I'm jealous of? I feel like they have extremely lush green grass.

0:31.7

The gardens? The gardens! That's no much better way of putting it. I'm jealous of the gardens.

0:36.8

1:04.0

How this goes to the fact that as two very different people we share a brain,

1:08.8

because I listen to the BBC Global World podcast every single night before bed,

1:14.0

and on the rare occasion that the person doesn't have a British accent, I don't listen.

1:21.1

I'm like, who is this obvious German they have sitting in? And I can say that because I'm German.

1:25.2

But like, I just, it is, you're totally right about the use of the word jab.

1:30.1

And then also scheme, when it's like the government scheme, it makes it seem like everybody's like

1:35.6

it's all just a big game of clue. Yeah, I love it.

1:43.2

This week, we're joined by Shannon Watts of Mom's Demand Action,

1:46.8

Tiantran, and Megan Gayley to tackle the following questions.

1:50.6

What does the Derek Chauvin triple guilty verdict mean for police reform?

1:54.9

Are we making meaningful progress on gun control?

1:57.9

If care work is an infrastructure, then why does the whole ass economy grind to a halt without it?

2:03.6

And can Agatha Christie solve the mystery of what book you should read next all this and more
