Let's pray together.

So Father in Heaven, what a bounty already of your word and of truth and of

wise counsel and I pray that you would now draw our focus again

together for these few moments

as we turn to some practicals in our approach to your word and as we talk about this

amazing reality of prayer I prayed you lead us, you guide us, you'd reform us, reshape us, strengthen us in the ways you need to be strengthened,

correct us in the ways we need to be corrected, envision new possibilities for our lives and habits in very practical ways and

bless our moments here together. In Jesus name we pray.

Amen. So as a way of jumping back in this morning of what we saw last night, I love the

Ryle quote. He brings so many good things together not just in identifying these various means of grace,

but in talking about the fresh supply of God's grace by the power of the spirit.

So let's start with the Rylequote again and then move into our

practicals with word and prayer. The means of grace, he said, are such as Bible reading, private prayer, regularly worshiping God in church wherein

one hears the word taught and participates in the

Lord's Supper and I talked about he's doing his pie certain ways kind of like a

five-part pie we're doing like a three-part pie I'm putting putting word-taught together with Bible reading and

we're doing private prayer along with corporate and we're putting worship and

Lord's supper together in this category called Fellowship and he says I lay it down

as a simple matter of fact that no one who is careless about such things, these means of grace, must ever expect to make much progress in sanctification.
