to make Saturday night live stop making fun of him. Manchin backs debate of the four the people

act as Kamala Harris, social preside over the vote tonight in the Senate. The ninth circuit court

of appeals has stayed the ruling over turning the assault weapons ban in California and Reuters

Oh my gosh so much breaking news so much it won't stop breaking edgy it just won't stop breaking

like as we sit it is happening later in the show I want to let you know I'm going to be talking

to Sarah Beth Rosenberg. She is the host of the PBS NewsHour Extra Educator series and we're

going to be talking about what critical race theory is and how Republicans are stupid.

And today the Senate just voted 50-15 with all 50 Senate Republicans voting against opening

debate on voting rights. A lot of people are asking why Kamala Harris presided over this vote.

A lot of people are asking why Kamala didn't cast the tiebreaker it's because you need 60 votes

because of the filibuster to do that thing where you do the thing in the Senate.

And so we only had 50 so there was no need for her to do a tie breaking vote because her vote

wouldn't break a tie but it's important to note all 50 Senate Republicans voted against opening

debate and all of them not even Romney not even Murkowski all of them yep all 50 and right after

that as if it was some sort of kismet in the timing Nancy Pelosi announced she told her colleagues

she will name a select committee to investigate the insurrection so that will be happening which
