and I think much more realistic than all the doom saying that goes on today. But we asked him to come on today because the new republic is doing a series on what Democrats need to do to win in 2024. It's basically a

playbook and Simon wrote a really good piece on the tactical things that the

Biden campaign needs to be doing.

And it's been a long time since we've had Simon on,

and wanted his generally optimistic and positive perspective

on where we are.

Well, I wish we were recording earlier. This is one of the most fun pre-show discussions we've had in a while.

That's 10 minutes. I'd like to be able to broadcast. But Simon, I mean, we got to start on the on the positive note because overall things are pretty positive if people have been reading

Hopium Chronicles, which will include a link in the show notes. They know most of this but for our listeners where are you right now overall because

we get into your piece the later about how the campaign should go big and what

we need to do on individual things but give us some context about what you're feeling right now. Yeah, look I have a basic take and where

things are right now which is that Joe Biden is a good president the

country is better off the Democratic Party is strong in winning

elections all across the country, and they have Trump, the most unfit man to ever run for

president in American history. And so in every way imaginable I would much rather be us than them.

And I think that you know that as you were getting at I think what's beginning to happen in the economic data and even in the consumer sentiment
