Hello Cake Watchers, it's Chris here.

Not a proper podcast, so no intro music.

Just a quick update, just letting you know where we are.

In short, we're going to take a little bit of a break over the summer

for a number of reasons. The most exciting of which is that any day now, I'm going to be a

dad again. It's really exciting. I say any day now, hopefully not quite yet, a couple of weeks to go.

So that's going to be occupying a huge amount of my mental space.

But I think both of us are feeling pretty exhausted by the relentless

Brexit shitstorm that showers down upon us every day in our work and in our private lives and on Twitter

and Cakewatch was always a way, it was always a bit of a pressure valve for us, it was a way

of us releasing some of that pressure, some of that anxiety, some of that stress. And so it has been. But as with so many of these

things, sometimes what is usually a help becomes more of a burden. And Twitter's a bit like that too.

You know, sometimes Twitter is like, oh, just, you know,

even when you're within your echo chamber, it's just relentless.

You just can't cope with the torrent of news and tweets from people

with the latest shocking piece of incompetence and it's a very stressful thing

to to watch something awful happening to your country and not always feel able to do that much about it.

Well, we do what we can, don't we?

And this has been part of that,

but I think we also need to take some time for ourselves

and step back a little bit and just recover our energies.
