Welcome, Alana Redstone. I want to start like this. I have very few times in my life, have I met someone or read something, written someone that utterly changed the way I think?

My guest today is one of those people, and she's written a book, which has completely changed the way I try to approach

myself in public life and with people privately. We and we're going to get into it.

Alana Redstone is a professor of sociology at the University of Illinois.
