Joining me is Malika Jabali, attorney, writer, activist, columnist for The Guardian, reporting from Kenosha, Wisconsin, the site of the shooting of Jacob Blake by police and the ensuing protests.

Malika, welcome to pushback.

Hi, Aaron.

Thanks for having me.

Your thoughts on what you've seen so far?

It is quite disturbing, actually.

When I first arrived, you could see the aftermath of some of the uprising. And it's really not that. That is so disturbing. It was

their reaction to it from, well, first of all, the fact that you have a young man, 29 years old,

Jacob Blake, who was shot at point blank range seven to eight times.

There have been no repercussions for the officer.

People out here have very few, have very little recourse to fight back.

So they're fighting back with whatever ways that they can.

It kind of reminds me of folks on the border Palestinians on the Gaza Strip who are fighting back with

whatever resources they have, rocks thrown at tank.

That's precisely the dynamic that we have here with the Black Lives Matter protesters.

And then you also have this radical right wing who, you know, I will say is a minority, but

clearly an armed and dangerous minority who have descended onto the city. And instead of calling

that out what you're seeing in response to someone who has killed two people, shop three in total,

is a welcoming of this kind of behavior. So I've seen some double

standards. I heard the gunshots go out that night when Kyle Rittenhouse shot those individuals.

I've seen the response, the disproportionate response from police officers with tear gas.
