We have two lives and the second begins when we realize we only have one, Confucius.

In other words, life is fleeting and no more so than with raising your kids.

It's easy to read, but harder to appreciate that times fleeting with your children when

you're up at 5.30 a.m. for the seventh straight day.

Yet, we need to remember that right now our kids want us to hold them, to hug them until

is the exception not the rule.

They're dying to be with you to play and interact until they move on to their friends.

If you ask parents with grown children what their favorite stage of child raising was, they'll

invariably say that each stage was extraordinary in its own way.

I didn't understand what that meant even after hearing it over and over again.

I had to experience it myself.

When your baby is a year old, you snuggle them.

At two, you play peekaboo, three year olds, a four make believe, at four they dress up,

five start to play games, etc.
