Summary

The PlayStation 5 will have been out for six years this fall, which is usually when console manufacturers start looking ahead to next-gen hardware. But that might not be the case for Sony anytime soon, as one industry analyst claims a variety of factors will see the PlayStation 6’s launch pushed to 2029 or later. We have mixed feelings about this, but ultimately, we don’t really feel like the PS5 has hit its stride quite yet, and while it’s a great machine, there are plenty of players still able to play some of the most popular games on PS4. So, maybe the solution on the hardware front isn’t a new generation of powerful hardware, but some different iterations of current gen that take into account how people are playing. After all, 7% of PS5 owners in the US also picked up a PlayStation Portal, which suggests they’d be willing to sacrifice fidelity and screen real estate for a more intimate gaming experience. In other news, a new set of PlayStation accessories for Figma action figures includes a 1:12 scale replica of Bloodborne, and yet more evidence emerges that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag is getting a remake any day now, and it’s such an open secret, even Ubisoft is making jokes about it. Beyond and hello and welcome once again to IGN's weekly PlayStation show.

0:03.5

I'm your host Max Scoville and coming up to PlayStation 6 might not be here for quite some time

0:08.4

and maybe that's for the best. Plus Bloodbourne is getting a re-release of sorts that

0:12.7

should appeal to a very very small audience quite literally. Let's get into it.

0:31.2

McDonald's wraps all flavor, no mess. No drips on your drip or grease on your shirt.

0:33.5

No crumbs on your keyboard or sauce on your dashboard.

0:36.5

Just all the flavor of sweet chili chicken, barbecue and bacon chicken and new Tika chicken. Wrapped up neat. Served after 11 a.m. Tika chicken wrap available until the 13th July 26. Fees applied to delivery orders subject to availability. I am joined once again by my good pal Brian Altano. What's up, Brian? Good to see you, Max. You're going to get a lot of crap for getting people excited back there, but I'm glad they'll be coming for you and not me. Okay, okay. So I don't, let's just get right into it. So Bloodboard is not getting remade in any real video game sense. Look at that. We are getting a, for this is really a thing you should see in video. By the way, we have video on Spotify now. If you listen there, you can also watch there. Bloodbourne is getting a 112th recreation for use with Figma action figures. If you're unfamiliar, Figma is a high-end Japanese toy line. They have made all sorts of great video, video game action figures. They've done Bloodbourne. They've done Sekaro. They've done Death Stranding. Zelda, all sorts of good stuff like that. And they do make a Blood Born Hunter, which is kind of hard to track down. They make a Lady Maria. They make a bunch of other, you know, various anime characters and stuff. And they announced an accessory pack that is up for pre-order. It's coming out this fall.

1:44.8

And it is a PlayStation, it's like an entire PlayStation lineup.

1:48.7

You can get a little teeny tiny, a Vita, a PSP, a PS1,

1:54.1

PS2, PS3, PS4, and PS5, complete with controllers.

1:58.0

And each generation or each console comes with its own set of games.

2:02.0

So Vita comes with Freedom Wars,

2:05.0

PS2 comes with Shadow the Colossus,

2:06.7

and PS4 comes with a teeny tiny copy of Bloodbourne

2:10.4

that is like the size of a posted stamp

2:12.7

and made for, like this is effectively dollhouse furniture.

2:15.9

This is for work with six inch scale action figures, give or take. And it's adorable. And I love it. And also, I'm just like, I'm so mad that, like, when we get any love for Bloodborn from Sony, it's always in the weirdest place, you know? Yeah. Yeah. It is a, I will not complain about more Bloodborn, even if it's, you know, the smaller than a penny. You can have a little blood-borne as a treat. Yeah, right? Take two of these every morning to keep the 4K remaster away, I guess. No, and it's an odd choice that like, I mean, for me, when you're like, what's your favorite PS4 game? I say blood-borne, but I don't, I don't feel like that is what most people say, right? Like, I think a lot of people would have said, like, oh, the last of us, right? Like, that's the sort of like quintessential. Like, this is one of the most iconic. Even though that started as a PS3 game, I think it found its biggest audience on PS4. There's a bunch of games that I would immediately associate with the PS4

3:08.7

that aren't blood-borne,

3:09.9

but I'm glad to see it

3:10.7

get in love.

3:11.2

And also like, yeah, this is a cool little set, right? I sort of want to order this. It's rad. I love that the PS1 opens up so you can like put a disc in there. That one comes with Ape Escape. It is, it is really weird. I feel, there's some tangled up stuff with licensing. Like they just re-released. There's a really cool, a figma of Snake from Metal Gear Solid 2, which I actually tracked down while I was in Japan. It's a really nice figure. It's like so detailed. You can stick a little like pin in the back of his head and move his eyeballs to make which direction he's looking. He comes with like a cardboard box and cigarettes and all that good stuff.

3:42.5

Like a painting in a haunted house. Yeah. It's so unnecessarily detailed, you know, superposable. And they just made this, you know, this version of snake. And for whatever reason, the PS2 game that comes with this is Shadow the Colossus when they could have had. I guess because Konami has the right stand Metal Gear Solid and this is a Sony PlayStation property.
