Hey everyone. Welcome to Bitch Listen. I'm Imani Gandy, aka Angry Black Lady. If you've ever

stumbled across someone screaming about reproductive rights and justice on the internet, there's a decent

chance it was me. You might also know me from Boom Lawyer, the podcast that I co-host with my work

wife, Jess Piclo. And I have exciting news.

No guest. No one to tell me when I'm going too far down a rabbit hole.

No one to go, okay, but wait. And redirect me back to something resembling a point.

My producer is nervous. I told her I'd be fine. I'm fine. But there's something that's been rattling

around in my brain for a while now, and I kind of need to work it out. And you're going to

help me whether you like it or not. That's the deal. You hit play on this podcast. You're in this with me.

We are locked in together. So here it is. Here's the thing that won't leave me alone. We are in the

middle of a fascist takeover. and the people watching it happened are the most

informed progressive public in American history. Those two things should not be able to coexist,

and yet, the internet became one of the greatest political classrooms in history, and it changed

almost nothing about how institutions actually work.

That's it. That's the claim.

And I think it's true.

And I think it makes a lot of people uncomfortable, including me.

Because if it's true, then a lot of us have been operating under a theory of change that doesn't actually work.
