What's the latest scandal, Michael?

And, you know, here in L.A., goodness knows we are no strangers to corruption involving government officials.

And this was a big one several years ago out of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. A lot of people involved in this. A lot of moving parts. Now, this latest development is not related to criminal charges. This involves an attorney who was serving on the board of the LADWP, and now he is

facing potential discipline from the California state bar. We're talking about attorney Bill

Funderberg. He was on the board of LADWP back in 2017 during that billing scandal, the bribery

scandal that emerged from that. It took down the general manager of L.DWP. Some people

went to prison, including another attorney. What we're hearing here is that Bill Funderberg was serving

on the board. You have to go back several years to what was at the core of this corruption case. First,

a billing situation, ratepayers saying, hey, we're getting

overcharged. So a class action lawsuit was filed. And one of the attorneys who was representing

the city's interest was kind of working both sides, also working with the ratepayers, got in

trouble for that. But he was also behind the launch of a company that was supposed to fix

these issues and was trying to finagle his way into getting a $30 million contract from the board to help solve the problem in the first place.

And so that's what's at the core of these potential disciplinary actions from the Cal State Bar involving attorney Bill Funderberg.
