Summary
Where does music come from?
And why does it play such an enormous role in our lives?
In my first book, The Musical Brain, I admitted that, “If I didn't have music, I'd be certified insane.” And I stand by it.
Music taps into the brain, the heart and the soul like nothing else.
And today I'm thrilled to welcome to the show, Wayne Altman, a U.S. Army Veteran, author, and creator of Melody Clouds.
After his hearing was damaged during service in the army, causing severe ringing in the ears or tinnitus, Wayne experimented with sound masking and binaural beats to help ease his symptoms.
He's here today to talk about where music comes from and how we can use music and sound with intention to improve our mental health and performance.
We're chatting about:
- How to utilize music functionally to achieve different brain states and boost mood
- The origins of music and why it affects us so profoundly
- How to use sound masking to ease symptoms of ringing in the ears and improve physiological states
- How music and sound is used by Hollywood, the military and corporations (for better or worse)
- And much more…
