These are allegations of abuse of power, obstruction, and corruption. And they warrant further investigation by the House of Representatives.

That's why today I am directing our House committee to open a formal impeachment inquiry into

President Joe Biden. That is Speaker Kevin McCarthy directing the House oversight, judiciary,

and Ways and Means Committees to open inquiry into President Biden centered on his family's

business dealings. Speaking yesterday, McCarthy called the inquiry a, quote, logical next step

as the GOP-led House seeks bank records and other documents from both the

president and his son, Hunter. This, despite widespread criticism from Democrats and some from across

his own party due to the lack of evidence that implicates the president. The speaker alleges that the Biden family received special treatment throughout this administration.
