Florida, Donald Trump's legal problems could soon get much,

much worse. Two sources confirmed to NBC News that the former president received a letter

from special counsel Jack Smith this week informing him that he is the target of a federal

investigation into efforts to overturn the legitimate results of the 2020 election.

This story breaking during Morning Joe yesterday. Those efforts, the government charges,

include but are not eliminated to the January 6th attack on the United States Capitol.

Although a target letter does not definitively mean a person will be charged, in most cases,

it is indeed a precursor to an indictment.
