Well, joining us now, Congressional reporter at Politico, Nicholas Wu.

Let's get into this here because I want to discuss the New York Times reporting first.

Can it be seen as direct interference by Donald Trump?

And then also, Politico has that new reporting regarding the details of some of the communications

that the committee showed during its last hearing on Tuesday.

So both points, points.

Let's talk about both of them.

Well, the question of whether it's witness tampering is something that the committee is actually raised,

less the payments for the lawyers.

But actually, as my college reported last night, Cassidy Hutchinson, the January 6th Committee's star witness,

appears to have received these messages, essentially trying to influence her testimony over the course of her time talking to the committee.

And one of those messages actually came from an intermediary from Mark Meadows, her former boss,

the White House chief of staff.

And after the hearing, there were committee members who actually did raise the possibility

that witness tampering would be a crime.

And this would be something that they were interested in.

Congressman Jimmy Raskin, one of the panel members,

raised that possibility speaking to me and other reporters after the hearing. And so we'll have to wait and see how exactly they pursue this. It seems that there are potentially other witnesses who have

received messages like this or have had their legal bills paid for in the past by the former president's PAC.

And this is something that people will continue to be an issue as these hearings continue.
