Good morning and welcome to our live coverage on this Friday, June 13th. We're going to start

with the breaking news out of the Middle East, where the Israeli military launched a series of

strikes overnight against Iran, killing at least three of its senior military leaders.

The strikes, which the Israeli military said involved more than 200 fighter jets, were aimed

at Iran's main enrichment facility and scientists

working on Iran's nuclear program. Israeli defense forces say the attack killed Iran's most

senior military official and two other leaders. In response, Iran launched more than 100 drones

toward Israeli territory early this morning. Iran's foreign minister said the Israeli attack

violated the United Nations

charter and that Iran has a legal right to respond. This dramatic escalation comes as the U.S.

had been urging Israel to hold off on any attacks as the Trump administration continued talks

with Iran on its rapidly advancing nuclear program. The U.S. said it was not involved in the

overnight attack and was not providing

assistance. I want to bring in now NBC News international correspondent Matt Bradley, live with us

from Tel Aviv. Matt, what more do we know about these strikes as well as what the U.S.

may have known or not about them? Well, it sounds as though, according to the people that we've

been speaking to here,

people who are close to the intelligence and military establishment, that this was done

without U.S. assistance, but it was almost certainly done with a green light from the United

States, from the Trump administration. Now, really, Ali, this is the full fruition of what

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, has been trying to do for several years,

which is to take out all of Iran's nuclear facilities, its scientists, its main leaders.
