The majority of the American people believe in defending a woman's right, her choice,

to decide what happens to her own body.

And this vote clearly suggests that the Senate is not where the majority of Americans are on this issue.

We are going to focus on this issue again and again and again. Between now and

As expected, a Senate bill that would expand abortion protections nationwide fell to a Republican

filibuster yesterday. It also failed to get majority support

after Democratic Senator Joe Manchin

joined all 50 Republicans in voting against it.

The West Virginia Democrat said he would support

a clean bill that codifies Roe v. Wade

into federal law, but not the bill

that was put on the Senate floor yesterday.

I was hopeful that the Democratic Party, having control of the agenda, would put a piece of legislation forward that would codify Roe v. Wade. 70% of American public wants Roe v.

Wade to be codified, as has been precedented law for 50 years. To me, that would be the reasonable, rational
