Russian missiles rained down on at least five train stations across Ukraine yesterday, just

hours after top White House officials reportedly used the railways to meet with the country's

president in Kiev. At least one worker was killed and four others were injured, according to Ukrainian officials,

when the strikes hit the stations in the western and central parts of the country. This barrage

came just a short time after U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Defense Secretary

Lloyd Austin traveled by train to a diplomatic meeting with Ukrainian President

Voldemir Zelensky. Moscow later confirmed the attacks, saying the strikes targeted

train stations where weapons were being imported from NATO countries. Elsewhere, President

Biden has named his pick for the next ambassador to the war-torn Ukraine in hopes of bolstering diplomatic

relations between the two countries. The White House has announced that its current ambassador

to Slovakia, Bridget Brink, is the administration's nominee for the same role in Ukraine.

If confirmed, she'll fill a role left vacant for more than two years. The last

ambassador, Maria Yanovitch, was pushed out by former President Donald Trump in 2019 when his
