Good morning and welcome to way too early on this Friday, March 18th. I'm Jonathan Lemire.

Let's get right to breaking news overnight from Ukraine. Russian forces once again struck the

western city of Lviviv this morning, launching six missiles near the city's second largest airport.

Lvivis mayor says the Russian missiles hit a facility used to

repair military aircraft and destroyed the building. Ukraine's Air Force says two of the missiles

were intercepted. Let's go right now to NBC News correspondent Molly Hunter, who joins us live

from Lviviv. Molly, good to see you, glad you are safe.

Give us a sense of where you are, how close are you to the airport that was the sight of this attack,

and what more do we know about what happened there?

Jonathan, good morning. This is a game changer.

This has changed the entire calculus, the entire risk assessment, I think, for a lot of people here in the city.

Last week we talked about that military base that was hit 20 miles from here.

Well, I am about four and a half miles from the repair depot next to the airport that was hit.

Now, colleagues of ours, NBC colleagues of ours, staying on the other side of town, Jonathan, heard explosions this morning, saw the smoke rising from the

direction of the airport. This morning around 608, we heard the first air raid siren again at 625.

Got to say here, sound asleep, didn't hear anything from here, but it's colleagues on the other

side of the town who are just a little bit closer, who actually saw and heard that.

Now, as you said, information is still really filtering

out from the Air Force, from the mayor of this city. By far, the closest attack to the center

of the city that we have seen, but he says there were no casualties. He says the repair depot

was already empty, and no one was actually hit kind of at the airport.

The airport has not been functioning, though, Jonathan, for the last three weeks.
