| 0:00.0 | Good morning. Welcome to way too early. I'm Casey Hunt on this Wednesday, March 17th. We're starting this morning with breaking news. A Georgia man is in custody accused of killing eight people in a horrific shooting spree at three different massage parlors in the Atlanta area yesterday. The spree began around 5 p.m. when police say 21-year-old Robert Aaron Long |
| 0:23.2 | walked into Young's massage parlor in Cherokee County, that's about 30 miles north of Atlanta, |
| 0:28.7 | and opened fire, killing four people and injuring one other. Police say he then drove south |
| 0:34.8 | to Atlanta and shot and killed three people inside the gold spa. |
| 0:39.5 | After that, we're told he crossed the street to another business, the aromatherapy spa, and killed |
| 0:44.5 | another woman. Investigators say surveillance video shows long in his car at all three crime scenes. |
| 0:51.5 | He was arrested driving south about 150 miles from Atlanta. Officials say six of the |
| 0:58.0 | eight victims appear to be Asian, and police are investigating the possibility that the attacks |
| 1:03.2 | were racially motivated. This comes amid an increase in attacks on the Asian community since |
| 1:08.3 | the coronavirus pandemic. The New York Police Department says it will deploy counterterrorism officers to Asian communities in the city out of an abundance of caution. |
| 1:20.6 | We're going to keep following this story all morning and bring you any new developments as they happen. |
| 1:25.5 | But let's go now to the White House and coronavirus, |
| 1:28.6 | with the White House aiming to distribute more than 22 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine |
| 1:33.1 | in the next week. That would be a new record in the U.S. fight to contain the coronavirus. |
| 1:38.4 | States are expected to receive more than 16 million doses of the three approved vaccines. |
| 1:42.9 | That's slightly higher than what they got last week. |
| 1:45.6 | Federally administered programs such as max vaccination sites and community health centers will |
| 1:50.4 | receive most of those doses. And the increase in supply comes as more states lift their |
| 1:55.5 | eligibility criteria to receive vaccines. And in an interview with Fox News last night, former President |
| 2:04.5 | Trump encouraged his supporters to get a coronavirus vaccine, but added a caveat that everyone |
| 2:10.8 | has the freedom to choose whether or not to do so. I would recommend it, and I would recommend |
| 2:16.7 | it to a lot of people that don't want to get it, |
