I'm John Flemere on this Tuesday, December 7th, and we'll start with the news.

A former D.C. National Guard official is accusing two army generals of lying to Congress about the military's response to the January 6th siege on the

U.S. Capitol. The officer, Colonel Earl Matthews, wrote a 36-page memo to the House Select

Committee investigating January 6th. He claims that General Charles Flynn, who was the Deputy Chief

of Staff for Operations on January 6th, and Lieutenant General Walter Piat, the director of

Army staff, quote, repeatedly misrepresented, understated, or misled, the House Oversight

Committee, and the Defense Department's Inspector General. Matthews alleges the generals falsely

claimed the National Guard didn't have the training to quickly respond the day

of the insurrection. He writes, every leader in the D.C. Guard wanted to respond and knew they

could respond to the riot at the seat of government, but instead they sat stunned watching.

Colonel Matthews goes on to call Flynn and Piat absolute and unmitigated liars for their categorization of the events of that day.
