Christmas parade in Wau, Wisconsin. NBC News senior correspondent Tom Yamas has the latest.

In the town of Waukesha, families usually hustle to get a good spot for the Christmas parade.

This year, the scramble was to escape. Holiday cheer quickly turned to terror and carnage.

It was just after 4.30 on Sunday when this red SUV plowed through barricades on Waukesha's

main street,

barreling into marchers and families in the crowd.

Here you can see the vehicle just missing a little girl dancing on the parade route.

People started screaming.
