The Colorado Springs community is grieving this morning following a deadly mass shooting

at an LGBT nightclub. Five people were killed and 25 others hurt after a man wearing body armor,

armed with an AR-15 and a handgun, opened fire inside

Club Q just before midnight on Saturday. One person who survived the shooting told the New York

Times, he thought the gunshots were part of the music, but then he saw the muzzle of a gun

and ran. Police say the tragedy could have been much worse, if not for the brave actions of two people.

While the suspect was inside of the club, at least two heroic people inside the club confronted and fought with the suspect.

And we're able to stop the suspect from continuing to kill and harm

others. We owe them a great debt of thanks. Police identified the gunman as 22-year-old

Anderson Lee Aldrich, but have not determined his motive. A man with the same name and age

as the club shooting suspect was arrested in June of

last year after the man's mother called police to report that he had threatened her with a bomb

and other weapons. He surrendered to police after a three-hour standoff that forced neighbors to evacuate

and was booked on felony kidnapping and menacing charges. But the Associated Press
