Twelve years ago, I was waiting at the train station in Wilmington for a black man to pick me up on our way to Washington,

where we were sworn in as president and vice president of the United States of America.

And here we are today, my family and I, about to return to Washington to meet a black woman,

a South Asian descent, to be sworn in as president and vice president of the United States.

President-elect Joe Biden framing the historic nature of this day as he and Kamala Harris prepare to step into power.

The question is, will they be able to unify our divided nation? Meanwhile, Donald Trump is set to leave

the White House for the final time as president in just a little while from now, since Trump will

be in Florida when Biden is sworn in.

The question is, how exactly is he going to hand off that nuclear football?

And a slew of new pardons from the outgoing president,

including for his former campaign and White House strategist, Steve Bannon.

With seven hours still left in his presidency, the question this morning was that his final act?

The United States turns the page on the Trump presidency today, as Joe Biden will be sworn in as the nation's 46th president.

Donald Trump is scheduled to depart the White House for the final time as president at 8 a.m.

He's then going to head to Joint Base Andrews for a farewell ceremony before a final ride on Air Force One.

He's taken it to Palm Beach, Florida and skipping the inauguration.

Sources say the event will still have all of the pomp and pageantry of an official state visit,

including selections from the Air Force band.

Mike Pence, though, he's not going to be there.
