We're calling this one water safety and drowning prevention.

I want to welcome all of you to the program.

We have another important topic for you this week, and it's one that we cover just

about every spring because we all need a refresher as we head into warmer weather,

especially for those of us who get to experience all of the seasons and haven't really

thought about swimming since Labor Day.

But it's also important

for those of you who get warm weather all year round because sometimes we forget the principles

of water safety and drowning prevention if we haven't heard or thought about the rules in a while.

And this information really can be life-saving. Did you know that drowning is the number one

cause of injury-related death in kids under four years of age? And it's preventable. Also, during

the summer, here in the United States, a child drowns in a portable pool. So think about those

little kiddie pools in the backyards. One child drowns about every five pool. So think about those little kitty pools in the backyards.

One child drowns about every five days in the summertime. And so just over a week,

you know, we have a child who dies in one of those little kitty pools every week,
