We'll begin as always by checking out recent highlights of the Planetary Society blog with

science and technology coordinator Emily Lochuwala. Emily I have to start with

the best image ever of the great red spot. It is just so beautiful. I just

want to lose myself in it. It's amazing how you see worlds at every scale you

zoom in and you see all kinds of little stormlets and

then you zoom back out and you see the great red spot and I should add one of the

big white spots that was wandering around south of the red spot when Voyager

flew past. Yet again here is an image from Voyager more than 30 years old.

Why are we seeing it now?

Well, of course we saw some versions of this image from Voyager, or at least some people did shortly after Voyager flew

past. I was a little young to notice these things. But you know it takes modern computing power

to really bring out the fantastic detail that's visible in these photos. It's a three by four footprint
