0:24.6	excited because this week we have Martha Ritalic on the show. She's the author of
0:29.0	the new book City Nature, which really explains the rationale for water harvesting and how she puts it into practice.

0:38.0	I'm really obsessed with this, so I'm glad to be talking to an expert.

0:46.8	And I got into water harvesting kind of the back way.
0:51.4	I bought my house in 2004 I was a single woman on a budget and I'm from
0:57.6	Pennsylvania so being from Pennsylvania I wanted to have trees in the yard.
1:04.0	But there's one problem with that here in Arizona.
1:07.0	You gotta water them.
1:09.0	And since I was on a budget, the monetary type, I could not afford to install an irrigation system
1:17.5	that's connected to our municipal water supply.
1:21.3	So instead of that, I planted a yard of low water use trees and shrubs, some of which are native to this region.
1:30.0	Others come from places like Australia and Africa.
1:34.0	And over time, I have been able to water these plants using the great watering can in the sky, rain.
1:44.0	There we go. That is really cool. So are you still operating on just the rain or do you now,
1:51.0	you know, as maybe the budget has expanded, do you now have an irrigation system?
1:55.7	For the landscaping plants in the yard, they continue to live off of the great watering can
