Well today is the National Day of Prayer in the United States.

Did you know the first Thursday of May each year

is designated by the United States Congress

as a day of prayer and Thanksgiving

and is accompanied by a proclamation from the President.

It's something our country has done since 1789 when our first President George

Washington called upon the nation to a day of prayer and

Thanksgiving. Today as Christians we have the privilege to pray for our

country, for our leaders, and for all the brave men and women in our military.

Second chronicle 714 tells us brave men and women in our military.

Second chronicle 714 tells us if my people

who are called by my name will humble themselves

and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and I will forgive

their sins and will heal their land.

I'm going to pray, but I also want to just say before I do, that hopefully and prayerfully we don't just

pray one day a year.

This is something we should be doing on a regular basis.

Father, we come to you in Jesus' name, and we do pray for our nation.
