This wretched book is where it all began so long ago.

Before time, before dogs,

we've been on the edge of extinction for two millennia,

and the Rover family is all that can stop it.

The guardians grow restless for their tennis balls.

Their time is once again near,

as their owner is almost home. And it is all found in the pages of the tone of eternal barkness. It begins with a Roman centurion, Poodle Augustus, who heard the call of a craven voice

deep in the ruins of the forbidden kennel.

At the heart of Barkness, Poodle found a chuteoy of the ancients and became a servant of forces unknowable.

Poodle's first task in summoning his dreadmaster was to bind Mantra bark, the dog of chaos.

Using foul magics, he leashed Mantra bark in the depths of the dead city of Labrador.

This house broke his mind and he was thrown into the pound after biting three of the servant's

children.

But in the present day my grand puppy Alexandra Rover found the same city and used its

inherent magical amplification field to assemble a staying spell that would keep Poodle's master at bay with a mighty high-pitched whistle the barkness was halted.

And so it comes to pass. With his foes vanquished, Mentorbach falls into his dying

slumber. Mayhap he will awaken one day and continue his machinations.
