Washington withstood an Oregon State comeback to remain undefeated. Florida State lost QB Jordan Travis to a gruesome leg injury. Michigan played it too close for comfort against Maryland. Ohio State bludgeoned Minnesota. Georgia crushed Tennessee on Rocky Top. Texas beat Iowa State by 10 but needs to clean some things up, because whoever the Longhorns might meet in the Big 12 Championship could capitalize on their mistakes better than the Cyclones did. Kansas State won thrilling Sunflower State showdown against Kansas to stay alive in the race for the Big 12 title game. Oklahoma State overcame an early deficit and beat Houston to keep its Big 12 title game chances alive. UCLA's win against USC had Dan Mullen wondering aloud if the wrong LA coach is on the hot seat. Also, what does Lincoln Riley do now? Because the trajectory looks bad. There were a host of "message board games" that left one or both fanbases fuming. These included: New Mexico State thumping Auburn. A shorthanded South Carolina beating Kentucky. Penn State beating Rutgers but losing QB Drew Allar to injury. Florida melting down defensively in the final seconds to allow Missouri to win with a closing seconds field goal.

Welcome to Andy Staples on three, your instant reaction edition. It is Saturday night. I'm here with Jesse Simonson from On Three. We just watched a Saturday that was way more interesting than it probably had any right to be. We could start in Corvallis probably where I was maybe yelling

0:25.1

run the ball at my TV. I was yelling, man, where's this Washington defense been all the

0:32.5

season? Because I mean, you're right. The Washington defense made a lot better by throwing the ball deep along the sideline when you've been running it down their throats all game.

0:42.2

And you like Oregon State had time.

0:44.9

They were down to they had like five minutes.

0:47.4

Just run your offense.

0:49.5

And instead they put the ball in DJ use hands who had and he, rainy conditions or not, he was not having a good game.

0:57.1

And, I mean, he wasn't even close on those last couple throws, not even close.

1:01.9

And this was, this was a chance for the beavers to play spoiler.

1:05.8

And, you know, they kind of gnawed their way to a close loss, but it was, it was disappointing just

1:13.1

because, yeah, it was disappointing because they had a chance. I mean, they, you know, they had all

1:18.0

sorts of miscues in this game, Andy, and like you said, they had the ball with the chance to win

1:21.8

the game. You snapped the ball over your punter's head, safety. That ends up being the difference.

1:26.5

DJ you throws two

1:27.6

interceptions you fumble the ball inside your own 20 which sets up a Pennix touchdown

1:33.4

and yet you have the rock and you don't give it to Damien Martinez the ball was very slippery

1:40.2

most of the night the rain had stopped by the fourth quarter, though. And so that

1:44.2

that was more impressive that Michael Pennix didn't go off in the fourth quarter. The Oregon

1:49.2

kept, Oregon State kept him from doing that. But Washington's defense was very impressive. And this is,

1:56.2

look, all the credit in the world needs to go to Washington. I know I just complain about

2:00.3

Oregon State's play calling,

2:01.3

but for Washington to get through this gauntlet that they've gotten through is really impressive.
