Finally, this season is here, the Fox NFL theme, which you will hear Sunday at 1 if you are watching the game.

If you're at the game like me, you won't hear it. Sunday for me will be the first home game I have been to since 2018.

2018 was the first year that I did not do the pregame show after doing it for 13 seasons

on the flagship station 980 in the home of Washington football, the team 980, ESPN 980, sports talk 980, whatever

we were at the time. And I went to the Dallas game in 2018, the game in which Washington got

to 4 and 2, remember they eventually got to 5 and 2 before losing and then losing Alex Smith in that game against Houston.

That Dallas game was really exciting.

When Jason Wright said to J.P. Finley and Brian Mitchell last week that this will be the first sellout of all Washington fans, or mostly Washington fans, since 2012 or 2013. That's an exaggeration. There

have been some really good home games. That game did have a lot of Dallas fans there, but it was

majority Washington fans, and it was a loud stadium that day. I think Brett Marr missed a field goal

from like 47 yards out to force overtime.

That year, if you recall, on their way to 5 and 2, included some wins over teams that really

weren't good, like Arizona in the opener. Green Bay, where Aaron Rogers was hurt.

Carolina wasn't very good.

The Giants weren't very good, and they got lucky a little bit with that Dallas win.

They got lucky also.

Remember, they went down to Tampa, and Tampa had 500 yards of offense and only scored three points because they had four

turnovers and multiple missed field goals.

That was a strange year that eventually I think went the way it would have gone with or without

Alex Smith, which was, you know,
