All right, a strange podcast today because we had breaking news once Tommy and I got done

recording the podcast, the breaking news dealing with the team's name, the uniforms that they'll

wear this year. Aaron is going to join me for a brief conversation on the breaking news

that Adam Schaefter had moments ago. And then you'll hear the podcast that

Tommy and I recorded a little bit earlier about all the news of the last week, et cetera. So Aaron's

with me right now because this did break right after we finished the recording. Adam Schaefter

saying that effective immediately,

Washington will call itself the Washington football team pending the adoption of a new name.

That's what league sources tell ESPN. It's not a final renaming or rebranding for the team.

This is the name it wants to use until pending adoption of a new name at some point

in the future. The team will continue the process of retiring the Redskins name and hopes to

be entirely rid of it on physical and digital spaces in the next 50 days by the September 13th

regular season opener against the Eagles.

Washington will not have any change to its color scheme.

It will still use burgundy and gold.

The Redskins logo on the helmet will be replaced by the player's number in gold.

So Dwayne Haskins, number seven, on the helmet will be a burgundy helmet with the number

seven written in gold, I'm assuming. That's what it looks like on his Twitter account. Yeah,

it's a it's a burgundy helmet with the number seven on it. And when they wear white uniforms

with burgundy bottoms, they've got the burgundy helmet with also the gold number on it.
