Today, Gordon Saunlon testifies before Congress the DNC chairman on the future of the Democratic

Party and how Red has changed political fundraising.

I know that members of this committee frequently frame these complicated issues in the form of a

simple question. Was there a quid pro quo? As I testified previously, with regard to the

requested White House call and the White House meeting, the answer is yes.

So in this morning's public impeachment hearing, Gordon Saunlon, the US Ambassador to the EU,

he testified that there was a quid pro quo. Shane Harris, National Security reporter,

does this mean that Saunlon is drawing a direct line between Ukraine and the White House?

Well, I think he was both in that moment when he talked about a quid pro quo and later when he talked

about taking direction from Rudy Giuliani and Saunlon saying that he was working at the direction

of the president. Mr. Giuliani conveyed to Secretary Perry, Ambassador Volker, and others

that President Trump wanted a public statement from President Zelensky committing to investigations

of Burisma and the 2016 election. Mr. Giuliani expressed those requests directly to the Ukrainians

and Mr. Giuliani also expressed those requests directly to us.
