It didn't feel like anything unusual at the time.

It was just a normal night at home, the kind that doesn't stand out in any way

once it's over. He had gotten back from work, made something quick to eat, and settled into the

evening without much thought. The TV was on, more out of habit than interest, and the house had

that quiet, familiar feel it always did. Once the day was done.
