Welcome to Curiously Caitlin, where we take a kid question about God, theology, or the Bible, and find a scholar to answer it.

This week, we are once again thinking about creation and new creation, but instead of thinking about how we will live in new creation, we're thinking about how God lived before creation.

Lots of theologians have spent time wondering,

what was God doing before he made everything? Does it even make sense to say there was a

before creation when God created time itself? Was God sitting around for all eternity doing nothing

and then randomly decided to make something?

And if that's what happened, why?

Today's kid question gets into some territory that might make your brain hurt.

But it also points us towards incredible truths about the freedom we have to respond to God's freely given love.

I don't know.

That doesn't make any sense.
