And today we are also joined by Dr. James Wood. James is an associate professor at Redeemer

University, a teaching elder in the PCA, a co-host of the

Mere Fidelity podcast and the Civitas podcast, and he has written in rights for a number of

publications, including Plow, Comment, First Things, World, Theopolis, among others. James,

thanks for jumping on the show with us. That's good to be here. Thanks. Actually, we were just

talking about this before we jumped on.

We actually went to the same seminary. And I feel like I stalled out and you kept going, brother. I mean, like, you just kept on going in the academic world. And I just, I'm a flunky. It's fun to have you on. We were talking about how the school we were at, Redeemer Theological Seminary, it's unfortunately no longer around,

but was just lightning in a bottle in terms of,

uh, were talking about how the school we were at Redeemer Theological Semar is unfortunately no longer around, but it was just lightning in a bottle in terms of

kind of this connection between confessional unity, kind of an ecumenical spirit,

really within the reformed tradition. And it was a real sweet time being there.

If there are any other former students that happen to be listening, then we share your

pain that it no longer exists. The one and only graduating class down in the Austin campus.

But yeah, actually we had here at Redeemer, which is where I teach, we had Esther Meek come out

and do some lectures. That was fun because she was one of the instructors that we had. Yeah, it was a great time.

Man, and she's a great scholar. If you haven't ever checked out Esther Meeks' work on epistemology, it is really fascinating stuff. This whole season, we are dealing with tricky topics and questions. We're not really looking for hot takes, but rather to learn how to think theologically about everything, even what can feel controversial or pragmatic. and today we're kind of asking, we're going to start with a historical question,

but I'm confident it's going to lead us to a conversation about Christian engagement in

political spaces today and the life of our world today.

But today we're asking kind of a big broad question.

Was Constantine bad for Christianity?

And it does seem like he's got a bad reputation, James.
