UMA is an infrastructure for DFI protocols to build off of.

Our core innovation is this optimistic Oracle that we believe can power a DFI protocol to know any bit of data it needs.

An optimistic Oracle is a type of Oracle where anyone can request a piece of data, and it will be taken as true if it's not disputed.

That means not just like price data, not like the price of Ethereum or the price of Bitcoin,

but also facts like how big your community is, whether certain metrics have been hit,

whether a contract was fulfilled. And our Oracle design is very broad and open-ended in terms of the types of questions or data you can ask.

Now the important part of this whole system is that all of the different actors, they have economic incentives to do the right thing.

And what's really cool is we've tested this Oracle over the last year and it works.

Basically, people are proposing the right things,

and on the occasion that the wrong thing is proposed,

it's disputed.

But it's actually very, very rare that there's a dispute

because the financial incentives are lined up

so that people want to give the right answer.

This is the primal scream of a dying regime.
