Donald Trump's Department of Justice is trying to collect your sensitive voting information.

They want to know your name, your address, your date of birth, but that's not all.

They want your full Social Security number, and whether you're a Democrat or Republican.

In the history of our country, no other administration has ever sought to collect this type of sensitive information on this scale. No other Department of

Justice has sued more than 20 states to get it. In this episode, I'll explain why the Trump

administration wants this information so desperately and what they plan to do with it. I'll tell you

how it's part of a larger effort by the right wing to collect big data to make it harder for you to

close attention to this because this is going to be the big democracy story of 2026. Hell, it may even be the big

political story of all of 2026. And you're not going to get the full context of this story

anyplace else. So like I said, pay attention. So this all starts with the fact that states

collect information on who are registered to vote in their state.

Right. So when you go down to your local registrar or your department of motor vehicles or someone

signs you up to vote at, you know, on the street, that information goes into the state's

voter file. The state maintains this system that allows it to know that you live

at a certain place, that you're registered to vote. In states with partisan registration, it tells

the state that you are registered as a Democrat or Republican or an independent or something else.

In some states, it includes your race where they collect that information.

In every state, it includes your gender.

It also will include if you were previously registered at a different address, it'll include

that information.
