It was fun while it lasted, gang. Florida State was undefeated for the first month of the season, got into the top 25, finally made their way in there.

0:07.6

And it ended pretty quickly here.

0:10.1

Tonight at Doe Campbell Stadium is Florida State Falls to Wake Forest 31, 21, 21.

0:15.2

In a really kind of a strange game in the sense that Florida State goes out, scores right away, goes up 7-0, gets the ball right back. Yeah. You think, hey, this might be a route here in Duke. Right. And instead, Wake Forest scores the next 28 points. And Florida State stages are rally late to get back in it, but they've all come up short. To me, the big story of the game on both sides of the ball was it seemed like Florida State was not quite ready for prime time. Is that fair? In a top 25 matchup, did not look very comfortable on offense, did not look very good defensively except for a couple of moments. It just seemed like Florida State was not maybe ready for this moment. Yeah. And you know, like you said, they started out so well. I mean, you get a three and out.

0:54.6

You go right down the field, and then you get a three and out, and you're like, okay,

0:58.1

they're getting the ball back against the bad defense. You just put up seven. You might be up 10. Well, you might be up 14 to nothing here. You're probably not kicking and settling for field goals. sorry, but you can be up two scores here real quick, and then we'll see have Wake can handle this.

1:09.4

Wake might just be like, well, we're done. Well, that didn't happen. The very first play of

1:13.3

that next drive, Trayshon Ward fumbles, uh, Pittman does a great job of recovering it. Then Jordan Travis gets hit as he throws. It's almost the interception. And then it was just like the rest of the half was just good. It looks like last year. Yeah, it looked like last year, honestly. And I thought Jordan looked a little bit like last year during that stretch.

1:31.3

And part of that you could rightfully say is, you know, they were getting home with three dudes a lot of times.

1:36.3

The offensive line did not have a good day at all.

1:39.3

They are, as Mike Norvel said, we just talked to him what Mike Norville and I just did.

1:43.3

We got out of us, we just came back from his office. He likes to have us come up after a loss and kind of go over some things, what we, what we see and what we don't like. But, you know, he said that they're, they're down, you know, they're scraping the barrel of their depth. Like they're really, he did not use those words, but they are in, they're having to use their depth.

2:02.6

And clearly, Darius Washington isn't as good as Robert Scott at left tackle. Well, Robert Scott wasn't available. So you got to do what you got to do at left tackle. That was a problem. You know, Darius Washington's holding call was probably the biggest play of the game maybe, maybe because you're going to have first and goal at the four instead you end up with fourth and 30 from the 40.

2:19.6

So that was a huge swing in that game because that would have cut it to one score much earlier in the game that it ended up doing it. But yeah, man, I think the defense wasn't good, but you look up at the scoreboard, you held wake. You held wake to 31 points, man. That's less than they scored against Clemson. And you still lost by two scores because the offense just wasn't good enough. Didn't look anything like it had really the last three weeks. And second half, it was better, but I just thought the offense wasn't good. The offense wasn't what it needed to win a game like this. And if you look at the end of the day, you look at the numbers. Jordan had a nice passing day. Trayshon Ward had a decent day running the football. Pitman and Johnny Wilson were really good. Micah Pittman has two touchdowns. It's his first two touchdowns of Florida State. Johnny Wilson had a touchdown and a couple other really nice catches. So it's not like it was a terrible day, but they just, I think the pressure stemmed from, they knew they had to match Wake Forest score for score. Yeah. And so when they didn't take advantage to that opportunity early, and then Wake does get the ball and go down and score, it just felt like you could, it almost felt like they felt like they had to score on every play. And they kind of got out of themselves. And they'll learn from that. I mean,

3:24.6

you know, look, the bottom line is this was not a team that we expected to go undefeated.

3:29.5

It wasn't really a team we expected to be four and oh. So that part of it isn't the end of the world.

3:35.4

It's just frustrating the way it happened because, again, Wake Forest is not a vastly superior team. Right. And they just, they're a better program right now. And that's just the only way to explain it. Yeah, and I think what's frustrating is that the next two weeks you are playing better teams. You can win those games. It happens all the time. I think you're probably as good or better a football team as Wake Forest. You just didn't play well today. I would have loved to see Florida State play well. And I think they win. Maybe they win comfortably. You didn't. Still, I mean, you know, you give them credit. They did fight back. They looked like one point. It might be a 40 point game. You're like, well, just get some Rottemaker some reps. This game's over. Save Jordan Travis. But they did fight back because that's what this team does. And if my man, Greedy Vance can at least knock that thing down, I don't know how it got through them. I just don't know how it got through them. If it didn't, it's 2821 and you're getting the ball back. And Wake is really feeling it. But Hartman's a good player, and that is a good offense. It is a goofy offense. I don't

4:31.1

want to see it again until next year. It is hard to watch. It just doesn't make sense. When you see it in person, they're literally just standing there dancing with each other, walking towards the line of scrimmage, and then he pats him on the asses, gitty up, and the running back goes, or he pulls it out and throws it downfield.

4:46.5

It's just really hard.

4:48.1

I did think that Jared Burs, he makes an impact, man. And when you look at this team, this defense is fine. You can rip Fuller all you want. They don't have a lot of dudes on this defense. They have some good college football players, right? We would say that. But they don't have a lot of dudes. Well, right now their best dude, Fabian Lovett hasn't played in three weeks. Right. That's what I was going to say is that you interrupted me. I was ready to get to the point. I know. I know. I was just meandering. It's a set up of all sevens like that last wake forest drive, just 16 plays. 18 plays. 18 plays. So Fabian 11 is a dude and Jared Verst is a dude.

5:22.4

Well, Jared Verst played 15 plays.

5:24.0

Fabian Lovin is a dude and Jared Verst is a dude.
