In this first weekend of the new war with Iran, there's a big question.

How do you classify the war? Is it a war of choice or a war of necessity?

Or is that really not the most important distinction? Because that's all that I think a lot of people

have been able to think about since the war began

over this weekend. It has been a profoundly shocking kind of war with the death of the supreme

leader of Iran, Ayatollah Khomeini, and with the beginnings of Iranian attempts to

strike back. I spoke to my brother, who's lived in Jerusalem for 40 years, and he has all of a

sudden his sons and his son-in-law have been called back to service.

And they're going to be directly implicated in the fighting that goes on.

And the one thing that my brother told me about, and I can't stop thinking about it, is he's been in a situation where just since the fighting began, he's been called down to the bomb shelter they have as part of their home, called down to the bomb shelter

ten different times. And people who live in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv and in Israel are very

strongly supportive of this war, but they are also suffering from some of the impacts of the pushback that is inevitable

from this evil Iranian regime. Now, when people talk about classifying this war as a war of

necessity or a war of choice, what are they talking about? That was a title of a or a war of choice.
