so I'll tell you a little bit about myself in this session. This is supposed to be an introduction to the Quran.

The way I do this people in the Quran is very personal. It's not a generic like pre-made PowerPoint presentation

or a book that I'm using as a basis.

I'm actually using my own experience

as a basis to introduce you to this book.

I was actually, as I was raised, I was raised the Muslim, but I wasn't really

raised in tradition where I studied the Quran or learned its meaning or even went through the whole

thing in translation. So I didn't really know what it was and I wasn't exactly religiously affiliated by the time I got to college in New York City. I went to school in New York City and when I did kind of decide to rediscover my bait for myself,

I actually happened to be living on my own.

My parents had already moved away.

And I was living on my own, so I was kind of learning the religion

on my own terms, not on the family's terms,

or in terms of any sort of mosque or religious institution.

It was kind of a self-discovery type of thing.

And I realized very quickly after reading the Quran and translation that seems very Shakespearean,

but I'm not going to be able to relate to this book because the text is too difficult for me to process.
