In a tight labor market, retailers are luring folks to work

any way they can. Walmart may be known for barely budging on its starting hourly wages, even when

other big box retailers are changing things up, but now it's unrolling a new program that will have

candidates passing right by those lower paid roles into

salaried store management roles. The retailer announced its college to career program last week.

The pilot program aims to take recent college graduates or current students from co-ed to

storehead in two years. This summer, the first cohort of a thousand participants will go through

classroom training, hands-on experience, and one-on-one mentoring, Walmart said in a statement.

At the end of the program, top performers will snag a newly created job title, Emerging Coach,
