Part two of our coverage of Wallace Simpson.

When last we saw her, Wallace was watching the heralds proclaim the accession of Edward

the 8th who we've been calling David since we regard him as our friend.

As far as she was concerned, she felt like this was the beginning of the end.

You know, maybe she could hang on as the king's mistress for a while, but he's only 41 years old.

So legitimately, it's marriage to a suitable princess, heir, children, just what she'd expect.

And I think everyone thought this, everyone except the king.

Except the one guy who had a secret plan in his head.

There are whole relationships, though, she was that way.

This is just a thing.

Just another American mistress that he has.

And when it's over, I'll use it to climb a little higher on the social ladder and have some fun cocktail party stories.

But it wasn't a lifelong commitment to her.

No.

Regardless of how much fun she was having, because she was having fun.

Well, the king took up his new job, and he didn't do it the same way his father did.

And the old guards really disapproved of his populist attitude and the fact that he didn't really necessarily like to do all the formal things.

I mean, he didn't do them as graciously, perhaps as the kings of old.

He wanted to focus on things like unemployment, poor relief, help for wounded soldiers.
