In the earnings spotlight today, HP, Salesforce. in the Now our top stories. President Biden meets today with Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome

Powell. The Oval Office meeting will focus on inflation and the state of the

economy. The most recent data from the Commerce Department shows personal consumption expenditures

rose 6.3% in April compared to a year earlier.

When you look at the month of March, you realize 6.3% is a slowdown from 6.6%. However, it's still more than three times the

Central Bank's inflation target of 2%. And as we told you earlier this month the consumer price index was at 8.3% in April, which was down from 8.5% in March.

President Biden wrote an op-ed on Memorial Day, it was published in the Wall Street Journal.

The secondary headline reads,

I won't meddle with the Fed, but I will tackle high prices while guiding the economy's

transition to stable and steady growth. He said America's top

economic challenge right now is the current high-priced environment. He also

wrote that the Federal Reserve has a primary responsibility to control inflation.

Biden outlined a three-part plan of the things that can be done on the fiscal and executive

side.
