Ongoing concerns about interest rates and signs of weak demand for memory chip maker

Micron Technology triggered a bout of Wall Street selling on Thursday.

The slide reverse gain seen the previous day and renewed downward momentum that has marked the past couple of weeks.

The NASDAQ closed down 2.2%. The S&P 500 finished down 1.5% and the Dow ended down 1.1%.

All 11 S&P sectors posted losses for the day.

This was led by greater than 2.5% slides in Infotech

and Consumer Discretionary.

Energy also dropped more than 2%.

Turning to the day's economic numbers, the final measure of Q3 GDP growth was revised upward

to 3.2%. The figure was higher than the 2.9% that economists had predicted.

Meanwhile, U.S. initial jobless claims ticked up 2,000 to 216,000.
